We want to make it our best year yet for fundraising. Calling all volunteers, schools, companies and everyone out there to participate in a fundraising event for the Niall Mellon Township Trust. We have started out by highlighting some of the big events that will be taking place nationwide throughout the year.
The Runamuck Challenge - 3rd March 2012
Last year the ‘Run a Muck’ was a great success so we decided to join Veteran Volunteer Louis Robinson once again in Johnstown to have some fun. This cross country event is over a wet and mucky course with obstacles like bale jumps, tarzan swings, tyres and much more. It is designed to leave you with a big grin on your face!.

Great Ireland Run - 15th April 2012
The Great Ireland Run takes place in the Phoenix Park in Dublin. The distance of the Great Run is 10km. It is also hosting a run for kids on the same day called The Junior Run which is 2.5km. Kids from 9-15 years of age can enter. It is a lovely day out as you get to take in the beautiful scenery of the park. I walked this 2 years ago with friends and it was great fun!

Flora Women's Mini Marathon - 4th June 2012
Calling all the ladies out there to get your running shoes on! The Flora Mini Marathon will take place in Dublin city. The distance is 10K. All volunteers meet up before the race so it’s guaranteed you won’t be running it alone. You can take it at your own pace and enjoy the atmosphere. Last year we had over 100 volunteers running in the event.

Entry Details: The first entry form will be in the Evening Herald on Wednesday 22nd February 2012. Closing date will be Friday 20th April 2012 or when maximum number of entries is reached.

The Maxi Marathon, Killarney - Kerry
The Maxi Marathon is a 15 mile run and is open to all Levels. The scenic route makes this race perfect for walkers, while race medals make the race competitive for advanced runners. The entry fee includes post race amenities like hot and cold tubs for recovery. Also, there is a BBQ celebration for completing the run. Entry fee for runners is €40 for half marathon and €50 for 15 mile.

Achill Half Marathon- Mayo
The Half Marathon race is the centerpiece to a full weekend of events and entertainment on Achill. Last year the fun included a tented village with stalls and a B-B-Q for runners and their friends and supporters. The race hopes to repeat this again in 2012. The race is open to all levels of runners.

Midland Marathon - Portlaoise
The Midlands Half Marathon is predominantly run around the lively town and urban areas of Portlaoise as well as a step into the beautiful scenery of mid Laois and its environs with magnificent views of the Rock of Dunamase. All levels entry fee is €45.
