Cycle enthusiast Alan Clancy a first time volunteer with the Niall Mellon Township Trust took to the roads early morning on Friday 24th Sept on his bicycle to help fundraise for this Novembers Building Blitz. Alan’s good friend Tommy Dunning accompanied him, supplying him with encouragement, support and good company along the way.
Alan departed Maynooth at 7.30am and arrived in Galway at lunchtime on Saturday 25th Sept. The route taken by Alan and Tommy stared in Maynooth they made their way along the N6 to Athlone on Friday 24th Sept and stopped for the night in Ballinasloe, starting again at 9.30am and arriving in Galway at 1pm
A great fundraising idea from Alan, he thoroughly enjoyed the cycle and is even promising to do it again soon despite the aches and pains!
Alan has been receiving sponsorship from all his family and friends and would like to thank them for all their support in helping him reach his fundraising target for this Novembers Building Blitz. Alan said on Saturday that he was very excited to be taking part in the annual Building Blitz with the Trust and that he knows all the effort will be worth it when he joins 750 volunteers in Cape Town on 13th November 2010 to work on 120 houses!
