Damien O'Gara - Fundraising 2011

Posted by Eileen Shihoff on 10 Nov 11

Damien has been very busy this year with his fundraising efforts. He did find harder than other years but there was no stopping him from reaching his target! He approached his company with regards to sponsoring him and he was delighted to receive a donation from them for 700 EUR which helped him greatly. He also referred two new people including his brother-in-law Michael and an old colleague Louise O'Keeffe which took 500 EUR off his fundraising target. The rest he raised through a variety of different fundraisers including a Cup Cake Sale at work and also a Euro Million Loto Draw, each line was sold for 10.00 EUR (5.00 EUR towards his own fundraising and 5.00 EUR towards the line). He took the Niall Mellon Trust shack and set it up at the Kildare County Show in Athy, decorating the shack internally to show life in shack for a township family. He set up a mixer outside the shack selling a building block for 1.00 Euro each which was a great success. Not content with those fundraisers alone he held three table quizzes, one with his brother-in-law and two with Louise who were his Refer a Friends. After all his efforts this year fundraising Damien is now keen to building in South Africa.
