Scrap Metal Collections are proving particularly popular this year with our volunteers and is raising a sizeable amount of money for them. It is a fantastic way to raise money as it doesn’t cost anyone to donate towards the collection. Everyone has bits of scrap metal lying around in their shed or garden that they are more than delighted to get rid of. All types of metal is accepted, cars, farm machinery, acid batteries, gates, barrows, buckets, bikes, motorbikes, some domestic appliances and even the kitchen sink!
“I would recommend any volunteer to organise a scrap metal collection. I am a 6 year veteran with the charity and find it very difficult asking the same people for money year after year. Scrap Metal Collection provides a valuable service to people in the locality that doesn’t involve asking anyone for money and people are only too delighted to rid themselves of an old washing machine or batteries that they have lying around the garden. I am paid in full for this years trip as a result of my collection and couldn’t be more delighted.” Michael Vahey, Mayo
