Friday 24th July saw the completion of a week of intensive building for corporate volunteers on site at Tembisa. Over 500 employees of the South African Breweries Ltd (SAB) have been consolidating their forces for a massive house-building project with the charity this week. The Volunteers built 66 houses during the build which was completed today. Participation in the build was part of SAB’s Social Investment Programme to leverage their influence and resources in line with the South African government’s developmental goals.
This housing initiative is part of the ongoing work by the charity to encourage corporate South Africa to assist its government and its people in meeting the housing backlog. The charity is confident that the shining example set by SAB will inspire other corporates to join us on our Volunteer Programme over the next few years. SAB had over 500 employees building houses in Tembisa and this commitment illustrates SAB’s and their employees generosity and compassion in assisting their fellow South Africans.
