PRGN celebrates its 20th anniversary in Cape Town building with the Niall Mellon Township Trust.

On Wednesday 18th April, the day before the start of a 3 day international Public Relations Conference being held in Cape Town, the delegates attending the conference will build a new Niall Mellon Township Trust house for one lucky formerly disadvantaged family.

The Public Relations Global Network (PRGN) are sponsoring a new concrete house for a family in one of the city’s poverty-stricken townships as a contribution to the City of Cape Town in celebration of their 20th Anniversary.

The Public Relations Global Network one of the world’s top three networks of independent Public Relations agencies, came up with this novel initiative from one of our own veteran volunteers - Paula Cullen (whose husband is a member of the network).

As part of the sponsorship, visiting PRGN delegates will give up one day of their time, instead of sight-seeing, to work with the Niall Mellon Township Trust, where they will also witness at first hand the work that the charity has undertaken in the past 10 years.

At the end of the ‘Day Blitz’, the President of PRGN, Francine Robbens (Belgium) will hand the keys to a brand new home to one very happy family. “This is a brilliant idea and I cannot think of a better way to mark our 20th anniversary,” said Robbens. “Teaming up with the Niall Mellon Township Trust will transform our Cape Town meeting into something truly unforgettable, and it will also hopefully transform the lives of one South African family. The Niall Mellon Township Trust is an outstanding charity and we’re delighted to help with the excellent work they do in South Africa,” said Ms Robbens. “I can’t wait to get down to Cape Town and get stuck in!”

Niall Mellon will be in Cape Town to take part in the build with the PRGN team which is being organised and run by the South African arm of the charity, Mellon Housing Initiative.

We are really looking forward to bringing you all the news from the Blitz Day in over the coming days and wish them all a successful build.
