Boston Marathon Runner: Niall Mellon Township Trust Inspiration
Posted by Eileen Shihoff on 11 Apr 12
I have just come off a call with one of our seven year veteran volunteers Rosaleen Butterly and inspirational is not the word. Rosaleen is currently gearing up to go and run in the Boston Marathon on Patriot's Day next Monday 16th April. As Rosaleen says herself once she puts her mind to something there is no stopping her.
Last November Rosaleen was on the Building Blitz 2011 when she got confirmation of acceptance to take part in the Boston Marathon for this year and she decided she would do it as a fundraiser for the Niall Mellon Township Trust.
Once back from the Building Blitz she started her training routine. All was going well up until February of this year when she damaged her leg and left foot when training. This put a stop to her running for x4 weeks but made her all the more determined to train even harder once off her crutches. Rosaleen is now looking forward to next Monday and has said she will be wearing her Niall Mellon Township TShirt to get her through the 26.2 mile long marathon.
She is also hoping to make this years trip a family affair as her husband and four sons are signed up to go on this years Building Blitz with her. It will also be a family reunion as her husband Johnny and her three sons Steven, Daniel and Mark will be travelling from Dublin to join with her son John who now lives in Nebraska in the USA.
All the team wish Rosaleen the best of luck for next Monday and also congratulate her on her hard training on the lead up to the big race! You can visit Rosaleen's fundraising page on:
